Hello Ladies!

*              It’s official.  Fall has arrived and with it some spectacular autumn days.  We may have missed out on a lot of summery days but we’re having some great weather now.  Sure puts the thanks in Thanksgiving, doesn’t it.

*              The past few weeks have been rather hectic for a few of us as we’re working for Elections Canada.  Be sure to cast your vote on Oct. 14 if you haven’t already done so by special ballot or in the advance poll.  We all have a lot to say about the way our country is governed and elections are a way to make our voices heard.

*              Many thanks to Amorous Alma and Dazzling Donnie for hosting our September Affairre!  I hear a great time was had by all.

*              This month our hostesses, Fabulous Fran (McMillan), Princess Patricia (Clink), and Lady Donna of the Court (Donna Holmi) are planning our Affairre! in the banquet room at the Travelodge this coming Saturday.  Please let them know by Thursday if you plan to attend.  This is Secret Friend Month so if you have been participating, please remember to bring a small gift for the lady whose name you drew last year.  Some of us have already received gifts from Secret Friends who will not be able to attend this month.  If that’s the case, please bring that gift for “Show and Tell.”  We’ll exchange names again so if you plan to participate for the coming year but can’t attend this month, please be sure to give me the information for your form (name, address, email address, and up to three dates to celebrate {in addition to Christmas, etc., that we all celebrate}).

*              It will soon be time to start compiling our Hostess List for next year.  This will be circulated November, December, and January and then a draw will be held if any months have not been filled.  January is already spoken for so if you have a particular month in mind you can let me know now and I’ll put it on the calendar.

*              On Saturday we will be finalizing the plans for our bus trip to Winnipeg on November 22.  We will be attending Celebrations Dinner Theatre which will cost approximately $55 and must be paid by for Oct. 11.  If you plan to go but won’t be at our Affairre! on Saturday, please contact me, The Princess of Note (Wendy Paton), or Goodnight Irene (Belair) by then to let us know and arrange to pay for Celebrations.    Anyone who really doesn’t want to or can’t attend Celebrations will be responsible for meeting the bus in time to come home.  We can talk about this and make arrangements for one additional pick up point.  However, we hope everyone will attend.  It’s sure to be an excellent meal and a fun production.  Since we will have a fairly late arrival back in the evening, we will probably leave mid morning.  Our itinerary also includes lunch and shopping at The Forks and perhaps more shopping somewhere else.

We have reserved a 47 passenger bus so we’ll probably have some extra seats.  These seats can be offered to your friends for $30 each if they’d like to have a day in Winnipeg, too.  They can also attend Celebrations Dinner Theatre with us but we need to know as soon as possible if they plan to do so.

*              This month’s birthday girls are the Shotgun Annie, Lady Barbara of Keewatin, Red Hats’ Aud Maude, and The Little Red Hen.  If your birthday is also this month, please let me know so that I can add it to the list for next year.  Please note that I will only include your birthday if you wish me to do so.  If you’d rather not share this information, that’s OK.

*              We still have a couple of months to purchase tickets for the musical Red Hat bear Queen Leslie brought when she visited from California.  (The prototype of these bears was made by a Red Hatter to help celebrate a special event.  It was a big hit and many asked how they could buy one.  The result is the beginning of a business.)  Tickets are the same price as our 50/50 draw – $.50 each or 5 for $2 – and can be purchased until our December Affairre!, when we will draw the winner.  The bear will be on display at each Affairre! between now and then.

*              For the Royal Affairre! on Oct. 18 I’m still looking for help with decorating, greeting, etc.  Please let me know on Saturday if you can help.  It will be a small gathering of about 20 Queen Mothers and Vice Queens to get to know each other and talk about Red Hatting and what each chapter is all about.  We don’t have an official Vice Queen so I’ll be asking on Saturday who would like to act in this capacity for the event.  If several are interested, we’ll draw a name.  The cost of the luncheon will be $20.

*              That’s about it for now ladies.  See you Saturday!

Hugs & Feathers to all from Queen Debbie of the Lake
